Overview of Pilot Studies:
Pilot studies are routinely used to determine the physical and hydrogeological characteristics of a remediation project site and to aid in the design of a full scale treatment technology. The most common types of studies include Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE), Groundwater Pump and Treat and Dual-Phase Extraction(DPE)/Multi-Phase Extraction (MPE). ProAct Services Corporation provides small and large-scale mobile treatment systems commonly used in these pilot studies. The outcome of the pilot study will aid in determining if the proposed technology will yeild the desired results prior to installing the full scale system.

Other considerations:
Given the site information at hand, selecting the proper equipment for the pilot will best assist in achieving the objective of preparing for the full scale clean-up. Consideration should be made for the proper sizing of the blowers, compressors or pumps for flow rate range and pressure and vacuum requirements. One should consider any requirements for water and vapor treatment if required- as typically stated in the permit limitations if available at the time of the pilot study. Availability of site power must be known. ProAct does have systems with built in generators, however they are subject to availability at the time of the pilot study. Climate conditions can factor in to the use of equipment such as cold weather and project sites at altitude. Whatever the needs, ProAct can assist in the specifying of a treatment trailer or system best suited for the pilot test.

When you are ready to design and implement a pilot study or full scale system, ProAct is there to assist and provide the treatment technology and expertise to operate it. ProAct has performed numerous pilot studies from South America to Alaska and the States in between. These services include Air Sparge, Groundwater Remediation, Soil Vapor Extraction, In Situ Ozone Oxidation, Internal Combustion Engine, and Injection systems, just to name a few .

Safety at ProAct:
Safety is a priority on every job site. ProAct has an excellent OSHA Safety record. Our staff is first aid and 40 hour Hazwoper trained and participate in a medical monitoring, drug, and alcohol testing. In an ongoing effort to promote safety we have daily risk assessment meetings and discuss the site activities for the day and what we can do to remain safe.
